This was the second meeting of the year and we're off to a grand start. We greeted new members of our club and recited the pledges. Then we started in our small groups for the first part of the meeting. We made short skits about what rules we should enforce for this year and signed a sheet agreeing to follow all of the following rules:

•No use of cellphones (unless it's an emergency)
•I will listen
•I will not hurt others
•I will be on time
•I will not be disruptive to others
•I will be honest
•I will be responsible
•I will raise my hand to talk
•I will help others
•I will dress appropriately

After that we had Chris Riddle show everyone about cleaning water. The first example was a cloth that absorbed only oil and no water. Also we saw his homemade Carbon Column, which uses carbon to clean the water. The oil and non-water substances cling to the carbon in the column, cleaning the water as it passes through. To show this we put pop through the carbon column, in the end we had flavored, brown water with no carbonation.

We finished the meeting off with a snack of juice and grapes. Yum!

Our next meeting will be January 9 at the Fridley Community Center from 1-2:30pm. Get there early though! At 12:50 the youth leaders will be presenting a skit. Yeah!

So that means all you youth leaders invovled must come at 12:30, and plan to stay until 3:00pm for the youth leader meeting afterwards.
